@xxswagmaster69: An analysis of the song “the room where it happened” and how burr uses populist rhetoric to justify his actions #hamilton #leslieodomjr
when you think about it, hamilton ended because Burr wouldn't WAIT FOR IT and hamilton THREW AWAY HIS SHOT

the fact that burr answer to the question "what do you want burr?" is simply to be in a room, it's power not an actual ideal, Jefferson wanted the capital, Hamilton wanted the banks burr JUST wanted the status symbol of being in the room which gets called back when Hamilton supports Jefferson in the election "Jefferson has beliefs, burr has none"

I would honestly listen to an analysis of every single song in Hamilton. Lin Manuel Miranda is an absolute genius and most of it gets shadowed by the insane talent of the cast

I literally just realized that burr ends this song by reversing the iconic Hamilton post with the finger pointed up

Before this song, Burr moves in straight, calculated lines on the stage (throughout life) while Hamilton makes sudden and unexpected stops and shifts in direction. During this song and for the rest of the show, Burr spins in circles and often walks in rounded paths. The symbolism hidden among the lyrics, choreography, music, and acting absolutely blow me away.

Literally the whole song, per Lin's explanation, is how others percibe hamilton: jefferson sees him as helpless and desperate, but Burr sees him as a mischievous manipulative calculator who gets what he wants even though someone else also wants that (since wait for it he has been resentful of that). The key difference between Hamilton's real personality and Burr's perception is that he sees Hamilton as having no morals, when in reality Hamilton is obsessed with justice, equality, he has strong morals that in the musical are questioned and he's tempted and such, but at the end of the day he literally died for sticking to his morality, the reason he didn't voted for Burr was because he changed his mind every minute per convenience. Burr learned the wrong thing from Hamilton (ambition) instead of the real message: serve the public

you dont realise burr is the main character. because the character in a story always learns a lesson. Hamilton does not. it is burr who learns the lesson and teaches it to everyone. Hamilton is just a very important side character.

Hamilton and Burr are two villains on different sides of a coin. I don’t believe there is a clear good guy and bad guy but two political rivals that can’t put their pride aside to the detriment of everyone around them.

The repetition on “I wanna be in the room” after his convo with Hamilton is where I see the turning point in the song. He has a dead set goal and he will stop at NOTHING to achieve that goal. That goal being spurred on by Hamilton asking what he wants? He wants to BE Hamilton. (Albeit Hamilton probably saw this as a “hey bud, friend, pal of mine! Friend that I trust! Whatcha want?” He probably didn’t see it as mocking like burr does bc he RESPECTS burr) he WANTS what Hamilton has and this is where his HATRED for Hamilton sets deep in his bones and he is on a one track road to get what he wants

I always viewed the room where is happens as burrs “I want” song while wait for it is his “I am” song in act one. Which is super interesting bc for Hamilton it’s switched, in act one his “I want” song is my shot, while his “I am” song is in the form of hurricane in act two. Burr seizing what he wants (like Hamilton) ends up being his down fall and Hamilton choosing to stay the way he is (like burr in act one) is his downfall. Idk it’s really cool to me.
