@dr.jgrimmett: One week left as a PGY3. Lately I've been thinking about how easy it is to focus on how far you still have to go and completely overlook how far you've already come. Three years ago, I started residency at 23 years old. At the time, becoming a plastic surgeon felt incredibly far away. One thing that has surprised me most this year is that I genuinely feel like a surgeon. Not because I’ve mastered surgery or have everything figured out, but because things that once felt impossible now feel familiar and normal. I still have a lot to learn but this year has been a reminder that growth often happens long before you feel ready to give yourself credit for it.
