@wfhcorpmom: Your manager probably knows you’re overwhelmed. The problem is that most managers don’t measure stress. They measure outcomes. If you keep absorbing extra work, working late, and somehow getting everything done, you’re unintentionally teaching people that your workload is manageable. Instead of saying “I’m overwhelmed,” try forcing prioritization: “Given current capacity, completing Project A means Project B will be delayed. Which would you like me to prioritize?” Stop proving how much you can carry. Start forcing decisions. #corporatelife #overwhelmedatwork #workplaceburnout #careeradvice #corporatewomen
At my job when someone falls behind i have to take over their workload too. I hate it.

I swear by this!!! Im not even in corporate.. but I learned that the only way mgrs will listen is if you “let it burn”. Cause when you try to have a convo.. while the work continues to get done… and the numbers are still good nobody cares smh

Sometimes ‘overwhelm’ is more that they don’t follow prioritization guidance and don’t take manager feedback appropriately. If I tell you to move on but you just want to do a little more, that’s on you.

I told my director I am getting overwhelmed and burned out as a new nurse manager. She laughed and said “that’s too bad.” And proceeded to talk about her weekend.

Have mentioned this multiple times. Nothing changes. Management doesn’t chime in because they have no clue what their teams actually do. Cannot recall once senior mgmt sit with any of to see a “day in the life” of what people doing the work do.

Unpopular but I agree. When priorities compete communicate to ur manager on where to shift instead of whining or burning yourself out.
