He didn’t necessarily stop the glucose low but he definitely stopped it from getting lower. We bring our home cameras everywhere and although a seizure dint actually happen, it shows the complexities of his work. He scents before a seizure happens and STOPS it which is amazing because Epilepsy can lead to SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in Epilepsy). I didnt take the medicine until I knew he wasn’t just bringing it to me for fun because I don’t have a plethora of rescue meds to spare. You can see very clearly his decision making process accross multiple conditions. Echo actually alerted to my heart and large dumps of epinephrine/noepinepherine before he ever learned to scent for Epilepsy. After that he learned to scent for sleep attacks which we later found was typically related to diabetes. We shaped a better alert and now he has a clear distinctive alert for each, a clear sequence for each, and we practice massive amounts of intelligent disobedience to be able to prioritize conditions. Epilepsy always comes first. Safety and then diabetic alert and response. Finally, alerts to my heart which was how this ended. Many conditions trigger the other. In this case, diabetes probably triggered Epilepsy (glucose sensors typically lag) and as soon as I changed positions, my heart complications were triggered. (Medically speaking, I likely had a large dump of epinephrine/noepinepherine from my body struggling to compensate with diabetes, autonomic function, and changing positions with diastolic dysfunction and hemidiaphram). Anyways it’s pretty cool watching Echo use his nose and independence to keep me safe. #ServiceDogSavesLives #SeizureAlertDog #MedicalAlertDog #EpilepsyAwareness
