I get where you're coming from, but its clear that James Gunn is not intending this to be a "direct sequel" to Superman. From what we've heard it might even be slightly more of a Lex movie than a Superman one, so to slap a 'Superman 2' title on there would be disingenuous and inaccurate

I totally agree with the idea that he’s not fully in touch with modern audiences. The fact that he thinks 2 Batmen in film at the same time won’t confuse people is kinda crazy. Especially since Man of Tomorrow and the Batman part 2 are releasing like 3 months apart. Like I guarantee in 2027 there’s gonna be a ton of people thinking Pattinson is in the dcu. Like my family who are normal not locked in people get confused between what’s marvel and what’s dc, and if the Sony and fox movies were apart of the MCU
