Almost every day, someone asks me: “Mariana, how is Venezuela doing six months after Maduro was removed from power?” A few weeks ago, I listened to a conversation between Venezuelan journalist Goizeder Azúa and Pedro Mario Burelli. One idea stayed with me: **The dictator fell. The system he built did not.** That single observation explains more about Venezuela today than most headlines. Yes, the embassy reopened. Yes, flights resumed. But more than 600 political prisoners remain behind bars. Millions of Venezuelans remain abroad. And many of the structures that sustained the regime are still intact. As the world’s attention shifts to other crises, Venezuela has largely disappeared from the conversation. The reality on the ground hasn’t. That interview inspired an article I wrote about where the country stands today, six months later. If you’d like to read it—or share it with someone trying to understand what’s really happening in Venezuela—comment LINK and I’ll send it to you. 🔗 Gracias por estar aquí. 🇻🇪
