I wrote my final paper for yoga teacher training and cried through half of it and i am not exaggerating. there is something about being asked to put words to what this practice has actually done to you that cracks you wide open in a way asana never could. you can move through a thousand vinyasas and still not know what you believe. but sit down and try to write it out, try to explain to somebody else why you started showing up on your mat in the first place, and suddenly you are excavating years of stuff you didn’t even know you were still carrying. i started this training thinking i was going to learn how to teach a good class. cue and sequence and count breaths out loud without feeling like a robot. and i did learn that. but what i actually walked away with was a paper trail of who i was becoming, written in real time, messy handwriting and all. there’s a version of me on these pages who is still so unsure. still asking permission to take up space, still explaining herself, still trying to sound qualified instead of just telling the truth. and then there’s a version a few pages later who sounds like she has actually lived inside her own body for the first time. who talks about breath and stillness and the sacral space like she has been there and come back to report on it. i think that’s the whole thing nobody tells you about teacher trainings. you don’t just learn a skill. you get handed a mirror and told to hold it up to yourself for months straight. it is humbling and it is annoying and it is honestly kind of holy. #ytt #ryt200 #soundhealing #yogateacher #HealingJourney
