Пшеничного і є сюжетом кіножурналу «Радянська Україна» за листопад 1963 року. У ньому зафіксовано відкриття нового широкоформатного кінотеатру «Космос» в Івано-Франківську (тоді ще Станіслав був перейменований лише рік тому). Основні факти про відкриття: Дата відкриття — 2 листопада 1963 року. Це був перший широкоформатний кінотеатр області та один із найсучасніших на той час. Зал розраховувався приблизно на 750 глядачів, що робило його найбільшим кінотеатром Прикарпаття. У кінотеатрі були передбачені новаторські для того часу рішення: просторе фойє; окрема дитяча кімната; сучасна широкоформатна проекційна апаратура; комфортні місця для глядачів. Цікаві деталі, які можна побачити у хроніці: глядачі приходять у святковому одязі — відкриття стало важливою подією для всього міста; показані світлі інтер'єри, нові меблі та оздоблення, що символізували «сучасність» початку 1960-х; окремо демонструється дитяча кімната — тоді це вважалося великою перевагою кінотеатру; на фінальних кадрах фасаду ще немає знаменитої мозаїки з космонавтом, яка з'явилася пізніше й стала однією з архітектурних візитівок будівлі. Історичний контекст також важливий. Назва «Космос» відображала епоху після польоту Юрій Гагарін у 1961 році, коли космічна тематика була надзвичайно популярною в архітектурі, культурі та мистецтві Радянського Союзу. Першим художнім фільмом, показаним у новому кінотеатрі, став український фільм Закон Антарктиди виробництва Кіностудія імені Олександра Довженка. На жаль, історія кінотеатру завершилася як місця кінопоказів у 2025 році: після десятиліть роботи його закрили через продаж будівлі, а нині вона проходить реконструкцію з планами зберегти кінематографічну функцію у форматі кількох малих залів.
