@jonny.enzo: According to the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church books, Kidane Mihret refers to the covenant of mercy that the Lord Jesus Christ gave to His mother, Saint Mary. In the Book of Kidane Mihret and the Synaxarium, it is written that Saint Mary prayed to her Son with tears and deep compassion for humanity. She saw that many people fall into sin and perish, and she pleaded for mercy on their behalf. She said: “My Lord, for those who call upon my name, those who come to my house, and those who honor my feast, do not withhold Your mercy from them.” And the Lord answered her: “My Mother, whoever calls upon you, whoever asks for My mercy through your name, and whoever honors your feast, I will grant them My mercy and help them in times of trouble.” This promise became known as Kidane Mihret — the Covenant of Mercy. Sources: The Book of Kidane Mihret The Synaxarium (Yekatit 16 and Hamle 16 readings) Dirsane Maryam Main message: The teaching of Kidane Mihret shows that Saint Mary’s intercession is powerful, and God gave her a covenant of mercy for those who seek her prayers.
