@chat_n_chops: The reason I always use fresh garlic instead of jarred garlic. It all comes down to chemistry and of course flavor. Try switching to fresh and you will smell and taste the difference in your dish every time #chefmoe ##cooking101##homecooking##Foodie##learntocook
I dislike the flavor of jarlic. It’s not the same.

Thanks for the more detailed explanation. I've always only used fresh garlic bc my Nonna always told me to. She said anything else was "fugazi" and junk. Said you have to smash the fresh garlic clove after you peel the outer layer off and that's what I've always done. 🤷🏻♀️🤌🏼

garlic is also extremely easy to grow..
here in Sydney Australia we plant it in September and pick it april-may...
garlic grown from the clove will grow an exact clone of head of garlic it came from.. however garlic grown long enough will go to flower, those flowers will produce bulbils (basically seeds) about 100 of them.. garlic grown from the bulbils will create your own new type of garlic, but it takes nearly 2 years to produce from the bulbils... but it's a pretty fun garden experiment..
garlic also grows very well in pots incase you only got a balcony.
I love garlic, lol... grow some garlic people!

And that's why a certain content creator says that she adds a "metric ton" of jarred garlic. If she chopped a couple of fresh cloves she would get much more flavor than with the not so fresh jarred garlic. I tried jarred garlic years ago and quite frankly it doesn't compare to fresh.

Jarred garlic has a bitter, almost rancid aroma. I can walk into a restaurant and tell by the smell if they use jarred garlic, and won't go back.

Jarred garlic has a weird flavor as well. It can be used for some things, but sparingly.

Absolutely love what you're doing to help families feed their families quality meals on tight budgets.
id love if you expanded and partnered with food banks, family resource centers, and other organizations such as that to provide an assortment of recipe cards families could use in conjunction with the items that the food banks frequently and routinely provide.
(recipe cards like those you'd find in delivery services like hello fresh, that explains your tips and tricks to, as you say, extract "all that flavor" )

jarlic sucks..buy a big bag of pre peeled..zap it in the food processor to your desired size..put it in a gallon zip lock and flatten it all out..take a butter knife and make small squares and freeze..break off what you need when cooking..works great
