@theotusproject: Flying drones through tornadoes can be difficult sometimes, even with custom built FPV drones, depending on the tornadic flow. In the case of the recent Jeffersonville, IL tornado, the vertical velocities were extreme and it not an easy tornado to "spiral" into, like what we had done with some previous flights. To maintain flight through this tornado, there were times we had to point the drone straight down and throttle up just to maintain altitude, to keep ourselves from getting sucked up through the cloud base. To return down towards ground level (the main area we're targeting for data collection), the drone had to be flown outside the tornado and descend before entering the tornado again and encountering the intense updrafts. There were A LOT of things happening during this #tornado that we will continue to analyze, and we will release the 360 footage once everything is fully rendered! #theotusproject
