Please make a part 3, where you give a fully worked example of the before, the original proposal, and the revised situation. That would help people understand the impact.

The 50% discount was supposed to be a simplification! All the whinging is just more proof that it was overcompensating.

Can you explain how we will calculate the cost base on shares that pay tax deferred distributions now that we are moving to the CPI model… do we increase the cost base by CPI each year and then deduct the distribution

They never got rid of the small business tax concessions. There was still a 50% discount for small businesses and 100% discount for small businesses that have operated for more than 15 years

That’s not how it is being presented at all 👀 Does ACCC or any consumer watchdog have any power over this misrepresentation?

CGT 50 discount will be removed and replaced by investment cost base indexation. Does the indexation apply to investment in Term Deposits of more than twelve months term?

Isn’t the discount still applied on capital growth to 30/6/27? Then subsequent growth indexed? So a 2 part calculation. Methodology to determine MV of a small business as at 30/6/27 would need to be considered.

Boomers are protected but young struggling Aussies that are disciplined and trying to get to a home deposit by investing in shares are now required to pay more tax to take years longer to “get on the property ladder”. Meanwhile the big developers are not affected at all. it’s just smoke and mirrors.

The average Joe and myself have not got a hope in hell of understanding the tax laws. Lots of people are going to have glazed eyes when speaking with their accountant. Might be easier to vote Albo and Jim out next election.
