@justsomeguy073: too in your head is such an effective thing to say to someone who is accurately perceiving a situation. because it takes the perception and relocates it. moves it from the external, where it belongs, to the internal, where it becomes a personal failing rather than a reasonable response to something real. and i had accepted the relocation. had gone into my head looking for the problem. had found things there, old things, patterns from before, anxiety that existed independently of the current situation, and had used those things to explain the feeling. had told myself the current situation was triggering something old rather than creating something new. and i had worked on the old things. genuinely. while the new thing continued undisturbed. because i was looking in the wrong direction. pointed firmly and specifically at my own interior by someone who needed me looking inward rather than outward. i was too in my head. just not for the reason i was told. 😑
