realistically only need a 35L backpack and a jump to a 70L and you can fit every type of hike depending ons ituation in between by using add on packs, extensions, hooks etc.

Great post💪 If you are hiking long enough to get a lot of compact lightweight things you can even size down. I love week long trails and I used to have 55l backpack barely fitting everything inside including tent etc. Now i hike multi-day long high altitudes trails with 33l backpack and still got some space😂 So dont worry abt it much, get as much trails and experience as you can and you will grow to your “top backpacking gear” yourself👆

So I think a 25L would be perfect for me, then. I plan on doing mostly chill day hikes, but I might do some more ambitious day hikes once I get comfortable and figure out my preferred items to pack. I was stuck between 20 and 30, 25 settles the debate nicely.

😅😅😅 and here i am with a 100l bergen and still put things on the outside...😅😅😅 I dont do much summer camping but my tent weighs in at 2.4kg and my sleeping bag is about the same 😅 not to mention extra layers for over night and Waterproofs as my hikes are in dartmoor, so we can have all 4 seasons in 1 day sometimes
