/ There are photos that took years to finally capture. Looking back at my final year of middle school and the summers of my high school years, I used to join short-term courses and cultural exchange summer camps organized by various universities. I participated in so many of them and even earned certificates of excellence. I still remember the top-tier summer camp I attended back then was hosted by Sun Yat-sen University, a top 10 university. I even made a super cool TikTok video "flexing" all my certificates to wrap up my summer camp journey. I think that video has reached around 170k views now 😂 At the end of 12th grade, I passed the entrance exam for English Language Teacher Education. My freshman year at university was incredibly bustling. I diligently took part in Youth Union and Student Association activities, served as the class monitor, and held a few other minor positions. Between that and my regular classes, I had less time for Chinese. During that entire year, I only entered one or two minor contests of the Chinese Bridge competition. By my sophomore year, I was basically diving into my major, so I temporarily put my student union activities on hold. I focused solely on my major courses, and by the middle of the year, I self-studied for the HSK exam so I could submit it for an exemption from my second foreign language requirement. Lately, I’ve still been focusing on my regular classes. Toward the end of the year, I registered to participate in a scientific research program at Tsinghua University. It’s my first time participating in a program like this a short-term research course at a university ranked in the top 3 in Asia - so I'm really excited 😓. In previous years, the program only allowed group research, and certificates were only awarded to the team leaders. Plus, when I first started university, I had no clue what scientific research even was. It wasn't until I took a research methodology course at my university that I finally got a clear picture of it. The research papers are all written in English, covering a wide range of topics. I chose an education - related topic, which perfectly aligns with my major. I feel like I've leveled up just a little bit. Hmm, I also feel like this journey of self-study and experiential learning is coming to an end soon, making way for full-time work in the future. Junior year is just around the corner. Watching the seniors graduate one after another makes me realize how little time I have left for studying and experiencing university life. Graduating, becoming an adult, and working full-time is going to be extremely busy. That's why I cherish my university life to the absolute fullest, leaving no single moment to waste. I come home from class, cook, and feed myself well until my belly gets chubby. The moment a school break starts, I pack my backpack and go traveling on my own. In just a year and a half, I’ve visited nearly 10 provinces. There's even one province I loved so much that I visited it twice. Back to my "white moonlight". Thanks to it, I’ve had so many incredible experiences. It feels like living a whole new life. Aside from the life I am responsible for fulfilling, the moment I choose to learn something new, I gain an extra life to experience. I have no regrets about encountering Chinese. I also never let my time for it overshadow my main major. I love English and Chinese equally =)))))))) /
