Born in 1870 in Simbirsk, Russia, Lenin’s trajectory was forged in the crucible of personal tragedy and political repression under the Tsarist autocracy. The execution of his elder brother, Aleksandr, for plotting to assassinate Tsar Alexander III, deeply radicalized the young Lenin.
