the problem is that when you get to pension age in say 30 years or whatever it is the system won't have enough money to pay you out even though you'll have paid in for the last 40+ years. it really is a terrible terrible system

I would love a statistic on how much of it goes to private landlords. As a previous working recipient, all my benefits went to my landlord. The local housing allowance has been frozen for years and rents have increased rapidly, so people don’t keep their benefits. It’s impossible to live.

Current pensions are coming from existing workers. With 10% of the workforce on illness/disability the burden falls further on those working. Its not just 240, plenty are retired early on bigger pensions from the civil service, police, military etc

Completely agree. Most people I know are paying zero attention to their pension forecast. They have no idea how many years NI they've paid and they haven't even downloaded the app for their workplace pension. Meanwhile, the govt are edging up retirement age and work is becoming less and less secure (If they can automate cars, you best believe most desk jobs are finished). There's a storm brewing.

I hate this argument with percentage that’s pension etc. if you earn 50k a year and get scammed 1k a year would you be happy with that? It’s only 2%.
