You’re focusing on how her reaction made you feel, but not really considering how your actions looked from her perspective. Approaching a celebrity just because they’re public figures doesn’t automatically mean it’s appropriate or comfortable for them. In another context, what if the person next to him was his security detail and engaged you as his protective detail, would you still describe it as being “treated like a piece of shit,” or just a situation being misread from both sides? If someone suddenly got close to you or your partner in a similar way, you’d likely react defensively too. That reaction wouldn’t necessarily be wrong, it would just be a human response to how the situation felt in that moment. If it was a vice verssa scenerio in which a male from your industry walked up to the wife in that settings Phil will react in the way Phil will react. People don’t respond based on how you feel or how you feel they should react; they respond based on how they interpret what’s happening in real time. Even you would react differently depending on the context. So instead of theming it as unfair treatment, it makes more sense to see it as a clash of perception. A bit more awareness of context and boundaries could have changed how the situation played out.
