POV: you are hiking one of the deadliest trails in the US…☠️🇺🇸👇🏻 📍Angels Landing, located in Zion National Park, Utah is one of the main attractions of the park and probably one of the most beautiful but at the same dangerous hikes in the United States 🎟️ Starting on April 2022 the park introduced a lottery system to obtain a permit for this hike. The permit is required at all times of the year. There are 2 different types of lottery, a seasonal lottery in which you will be able to pick seven ranked days and times or windows of days and times you want to hike. There are some specific deadlines to apply for this lottery and you can check them on the Zion NPS website. The second lottery is a day-before lottery, the cost to apply is 6 dollars(non refundable) and you can only apply before 3pm MT the day before you plan to do the hike. You can pick up to 3 time slots and if you win you will need to hike in the time slot in which you were selected. 🥾The hike is 5.4 miles round trip and I will rate it as moderate. It typically takes between 4 and 5 hours to complete. The first part of the hike until you get to the beginning of the chain section is accessible to everybody, even if you don’t have a permit. To hike the chain part you will need to show a proof of your permit to the rangers. The second part is obviously the most fun but also the most dangerous part of the hike. You will need to use the chain to literally climb up to the next section of the trail. There are some very big drops on the side , so I won’t recommend it to people that suffer from dizziness. The views at the top are absolutely worth the hike.
