Yes, Anyone taking GLP1 should be getting a DEXA scan before starting and regularly while on, working with a dietitian and have a regular exercise plan (with a PT if your insurance will do that). I’ve been on for 2 years and have gained muscle and maintained bone density that way.

What do you mean without proper medical guidance? I thought all GLP1 requires medical visit and approval before you could order it

This is kinda alarmist, if the Dexa scan showed normal bone density what’s the problem??

I absolutely love that you're speaking out! I am all for GLP1s, when used correctly - which most people aren't, and through no fault of their own. My 70 something year old family member has just started one, and was given minimal nutrition or exercise guidance and it terrifies me how easily accessible they are without any guidance!

Any time you are eating in a calorie deficit you need to ensure you are still getting sufficient protein and doing strength training!

Argh Jillie I am currently on a glp1 and have lost 35kg - I am so worried about my muscle and bone density now that I’ve seen your vids. Will be heading back to the gym to try and reverse any damage I have done. Thanks for talking about this gal x

Well are people not using a program where you talk to a doctor and get regular lab work?

Loss of muscle mass is a side effect of any rapid weight loss without combining it with strength training.

I work predominantly with women on body composition transformations. Of the clients that are taking GLP’s it is so rewarding doing the DEXA every 12 weeks and seeing lean muscle mass and bone density increasing whilst also reducing body fat in a healthy and sustainable way. The kicker - most of the time the scales don’t actually change that much but they look and feel totally different 🙏💕

I got a DEXA before I started and have one planned for 3 months in, and pending that result, I’ll get another in a further 3 months. Weight lifting 🏋️heavy is also part of my regular routine
