@drdavidmorris: Could Your Core Workout Be Causing Your Back Pain? Core strengthening is one of the most recommended strategies for lower back pain, but not every core exercise affects the spine the same way. Certain movements may increase pressure on spinal structures, while others focus on stability and controlled movement patterns. Understanding the difference between muscle-related back pain and disc-related back pain may completely change how you approach exercise selection. Many people spend months strengthening their core without first identifying the source of their symptoms. The result? More effort. More frustration. And sometimes, more discomfort. Before choosing exercises, it may be worth asking a simple question: Do you know what's actually causing your back pain? 👇 Tell us: Which core exercise feels best or worst for your back? #backpain #corestrength #discbulge #spinalhealth #lowbackpain #fitnesseducation #mobility #movementtherapy #functionalmedicine #murfreesboro #magnoliamedicalcenter #rootcause #fyp #viral
I just figured this out with dead bugs and bird dog exercises. 😗

Very very accurate info. Healing a bulging disc with years of chronic pain and I’ve been able to do most core work EXCEPT for traditional crunch-style movements. What has helped me is placing a small Pilates ball at my lower spine to absorb the load of those movements so it doesn’t do more damage. Thank you for sharing this info.

This is great info and I made this made this mistake early on years a go when they told me I needed to strengthen my core. I ended up doing band mobility workouts and those type of exercises healed me completely.

I’ve just been told my multifidus muscles have completely atrophied from years of chronic back pain & a failed spinal fusion. Can this be fixed?

So does that mean, unless I can keep my spine straight when I’m on rowing machine no more rowing machine?

Exactly. I tried to tell PT it was making things worse but they ignored it and just said keep trying but then my feet and toes would cramp and I couldn’t walk after.
