@drdavidmorris: Why Does Stress Trigger Autoimmune Flares? Most people think stress just “worsens symptoms.” But here’s what’s actually happening: Cortisol is your body’s natural anti-inflammatory hormone. It helps calm immune activity during stress. But when stress becomes chronic, immune cells can become resistant to cortisol. This is called glucocorticoid resistance. So even though cortisol is still being produced, the immune system stops responding to it properly. That leads to increased inflammation and more frequent autoimmune flares. This is a physical, measurable process — not just emotional stress. 💬 Do you notice flares during stressful periods or after them? #autoimmune #stress #cortisol #inflammation #functionalmedicine #rootcause #murfreesboro #functionalmedicine #magnoliamedicalcenter #rootcause #fyp #viral #stresshormones
its a vicious cycle because the flare itself causes stress

This was really helpful! I’m a mental health therapist with autoimmune disease. For nervous system regulation, I recommend looking into somatic therapy. It has done wonders in the work that I do and in my own experience with autoimmune disease/stress management.

What do you mean exactly by physiological recovery time apart from sleep ? What is parasympathetical activation and reduced inflamatory load specifically ? They sound just like buzz words

What supplement can I take that can help like prednisone without the bad side effects. Prednisone helps me a lot but I can no longer take it because of my diverticulitis.
