@mt.physio.clinic: After 25+ years as a physiotherapist, these are the 3 things I wish every patient knew. They could change the way you think about pain and recovery. Which one surprised you the most? 👇 #physio #physiotherapy #painrelief #backpain #kneepain
Everything you said makes complete sense. I have trouble with consistency. I do better when I can link an exercise with an already established habit such as doing squats while coffee brews or heel raises while brushing teeth.

I’m 55 & have suffered lower back pain for 20+ years, my hips started hurting a few years ago too & between the two I was in so much daily pain. I started seeing an osteopath 6 months ago & have done 7 different stretches twice a day (never missed a day) and I’m really feeling a difference. I would never have believed that these simple exercises could reduce this long term pain the way it has.

I have recovered from multiple injuries at different times in my life. EXERCISE has been instrumental in all of my recoveries .The latest being hip replacement.

I’m terrible at doing the exercises. I can watch the videos and promise myself I will be consistent but I waver so quickly. It really frustrates me that I’m so slack at it.

Can you suggest a routine ? Do you have any advice on how to build the time in your day ? I genuinely see the benefit, but I leave the house at 7 for work and don’t get back home till 7, am 54 and tired !

The instinct to just sit or lay down when my back 'goes out' is always there, but time has proven again and again that I recover quicker if I keep moving. I have used my sister's pool to water-walk three times a week for a couple of years, and my back has been fairly steady, however, the heater has broken (it's winter in Australia!!) and it has been weeks without the pool, so I got lazy and didn't replace the water for land walking and you guessed it, my back is giving me problems!

Great advice as always. I’ve had times when Ive been really consistent with my exercises but I’m guilty of lapsing too often. Time to get back to a good routine.

Huge believer in movement. I had frozen shoulder. Got so frustrated about having to coddle it. Decided I was going to stain my deck and work through the pain. Best decision ever. It really helped with speeding up my recovery!!

it all resonates with me. The reason I don't do exercises is in the hope that I will feel better, some days, I do. As I have got older sitting is my biggest problem. It causes the stiffness. Stiffness then means I stop walking

xrays showed mild OA in both hips and lower spine but i am not exagerrating when i say I could barely stand or walk and was in so m7ch pain. i git appt with MSK team in 10 days but Ive waited weeks. Ive followed you for a while as I have RA and OA in most joints. I have been doing some of the exercises to strengthen hips, yes I had to push through some pain and started with just a few reps every other day, but now Im doing a few different hip exercises every day and building reps. I cannot believe the pain I was in and now my pain has reduced significantly. I was taking pain relief 4 times a day and now only as and when needed. if anyone has any doubt about exercises working, please try and see how you go. do the right exercises, start slow and be consistent every day. thank you, your advice and guidance has truly helped me 🥰

Sadly my MRI diagnosed my grade 1 spondylolisthesis but through exercise modification - stopped doing so much cardio and gave up pole fitness - and physio exercises my core has strengthened and I’m not in so much pain at night although still need painkillers at night. It does work but like you say takes time

MRI shows severe spinal arthritis and stenosis. I also have constant pain. Exercise is key. I’ve been thru pain management program with a specially trained therapist to help with nerve pain. It’s made all the difference.

I have Osteoarthritis and do certain exercises an hour before I go to bed - and I do different ones in the morning to get going. It helps a lot!
