This is not true for people who are heavier than their optimal weight. Caveat / example: I was faster (bike and run) at 75kg, but was constantly under-fuelled. I was slower at 80kg but felt more energetic day to day. Lighter is easier on the joints and the same muscles don’t have to work as hard for the same output, however you could experience issues with fatigue, hormone imbalance, etc.

Well that’s just not true, it’s depends on the size of the person. For 99.9% of people losing weight will make them faster.
