💥 WHAT WAS I EVEN DOING?! ‼️ You walk into a room with an actual mission. ‼️ A real one. ‼️ Something specific you fully intended to do. ‼️ Then somewhere between the doorway and approximately three seconds later, your brain notices something else, picks up a completely unrelated object and suddenly the original mission is just… gone 😭😂 😵‍💫 Now you’re standing there holding a lava lamp like this was somehow part of the plan. 🧪 BUT! There are real ADHD-related reasons this can happen 🧠 💗 Working memory helps keep a goal active long enough to complete it. ADHD can make that mental workspace easier to interrupt, especially when something else grabs your attention. 💗 Attention shifting can happen fast. A new visual cue, object or thought can become the new focus before your brain has finished the original task. 💗 Task switching adds another layer. Once your attention jumps tracks, getting back to the first intention can be harder because the original goal is no longer front and center. 💗 Context changes matter too. Moving into a different room gives your brain a whole new set of things to notice, which can make the original thought easier to lose. So sometimes it really does go: ➡️ Enter room with purpose ➡️ Get distracted ➡️ Acquire random object ➡️ Lose entire plot 😅 Not every forgotten errand is ADHD, but for some of us this kind of working memory derailment is ridiculously familiar. And the funniest part is realizing you abandoned the original mission only after you’ve already walked away holding something you absolutely did not go in there for 😂 #ADHD #AdultADHD #ADHDHumor #WorkingMemory #Neurodivergent
