LIFE IN PRISON: Six years after her disappearance and murder, Aniah Blanchard’s killer will likely remain behind bars for the rest of his life. Aniah Blanchard disappeared in Auburn, Alabama on October 19, 2019. Police arrested a suspect, Ibraheem Yazeed, weeks later, and Aniah’s body was found in a wooded area in Auburn late the next month. Police say she suffered from multiple gunshot wounds. After many delays, Yazeed’s trial began in March, 2026. On March 19, he was found guilty of felony murder. He was sentenced to life in prison on May 7. Yazeed’s sentence does include the possibility of parole. Yazeed was out on bail for a violent offense when he killed Aniah. Aniah's family worked with lawmakers to successfully pass “Aniah’s Law,” which changed Alabama state law to allow judges to deny bond for suspects in violent crimes ahead of trial. #truecrime #aniahslaw #lifeinprison
