@drsusanspicer: Radical acceptance takes place the moment you finally recognize that this is who the narcissist truly is. This is what they do. They’re not going to change. This doesn’t mean you gave up too soon. It means you’ve acknowledged the reality of the relationship as it actually is. It’s recognizing that if they are truly a narcissist, they are going to lie again. Gaslight again. Cheat again. Invalidate you again. When you reach radical acceptance about your relationship with a narcissist, there is often a calmness that comes over you. A sense of relief. You stop trying to solve an unsolvable puzzle. No matter how patient or loving you were, a narcissistic relationship is built on unhealthy patterns that you alone cannot fix. Once you reach radical acceptance, you stop wasting emotional energy trying to fix the narcissist, and begin investing that energy back into yourself. ❤️ It frees you of the guilt of saying, “Maybe I didn’t try hard enough” or “Maybe I could have fixed this.” The pathway to radical acceptance begins with a sentence, “This is the way it is and it’s not going to change” and from that moment, forward clarity begins replacing confusion. ##narcissisticabuse##narcissist##traumabond##therapy##relationships
