I’m a manager and you shouldn’t have volunteered any information. Especially that it’s elective. It’s not anyone’s business but yours. When one of my employees needed time off for any surgery or family emergency, if they start trying to explain and give me details, I stop them immediately. There is no reason I need to be given anything more than surgery or family emergency.

I was ill and went in despite feeling like hell. I passed out while working and 911 was called and I was taken to the hospital for my vitals and I was losing consciousness. I do remember the main Fire fighter asking why I was there and I said I had to because work and gave a name. He wasn’t happy. I wasn’t happy as my shirt was ripped off, but I went in and out of consciousness. More happened and some I only heard of after. I was ill and needed some time, but it became something and I will never forget laying there with no shirt.
