This happened to friend mine years ago. She sued and the employer had to pay her owner $200k in settlement

I took leave last year, 8 weeks for my mastectomy and start of my chemo, came back at the same time reviews were due, was told since I was on extended vacation I didn’t qualify for a higher rating even though I met all my targets before I went on leave, wound up getting a 1.4% raise and was told it was because I didn’t work a full year and I should be grateful since I was able to take a 2 month vacation, not even kidding that’s what he called my leave. Mind you I worked through 4 months of chemo after I came back.

We have s year of paid leave in Canada. It's so unfair to have to leave a newborn to go back to work

I was hired at a daycare when someone was on maternity leave. They were going to let her go and I told her to hit up the labor board. She said I might lose my job and I told her it was okay because it wasn’t fair to do that to her.

Poor lady, postpartum is difficult without any office drama but it’s adding so much to the plate for her to deal with

Dad here, I took FMLA when my daughter was born. We didn’t want to put her in day too soon. I loved every moment of it. When I came back to work the level of animosity directed toward me was huge. Management accused me of abandoning them even though HR had helped me kindly with me my FMLA. I did report the behavior, but nothing was done. When I quit a few months later for a new job, they fired me the day I turned in my two week notice. Told me I had never been a good employee and wasn’t focused enough on work.

It’s my fourth day back at work after my 12 week maternity leave and I would bawl and quit immediately if this happened to me. My team had bagels and fruit waiting and lots of people told me welcome back and that they missed me. Starting back barely postpartum is hard enough.

I was gone 7 months due to fighting cancer. Went back to work in May. My coworkers were in constant contact with me the entire time. When I got back to work I had a card, chocolates, hugs, updates on the workplace, it was like a never left 🥹🥹🥹 I can’t even imagine what she must be feeling with all this

At my last company we had a girl go on maternity leave and then they decided that they didn't want her to come back so they just dissolved her position so that it no longer existed and paid her a month worth of severance to just not come back. Unfortunately nobody actually told her that they were paying her severance and that she no longer had a job so she showed back up after her maternity leave to find out that her office is now repurposed for something else, all of her logins and credentials were completely revoked and that she actually didn't work for us anymore. Of all of the things to overlook, telling the person they no longer have a job should not have been one of them

I was gone for 8 weeks for maternity leave and it was SO WEIRD when I came back. it's like I was visibly invisible. I still had my office and job, though.

Someone at at my work just went on 14 months maternity leave and we offer 3 months paternity leave too.
Their job is still there, if it changes we have to offer them something else then possibly redundancy.
