my fiancés father passed this last Thursday and we have the funeral set for this coming Friday, the funeral home informed us that we needed to come up with the entire 21k before they even began their work such as doing work on the body, pamphlets ect. we were literally scrambling to figure out how to pay it. luckily my fiancé and I are fortunate enough to be able to front the money to get the funeral going and figure out the rest later. literally ridiculous

Actual facts, your body doesn’t need to be embalmed, it’s wildly carcinogenic and really bad for the environment anyway and you can buy biodegradable caskets made of sea grass and other natural materials that are a fraction of the cost. What are we preserving dead bodies for anyway? 🤔

My dad was a vet and they didn’t help pay for shiiiiiiiiii - we creamed and it was still like $700 that we didn’t have so never had a funeral service bc why are they thousands of dollars? I’m already poor AND my dad is dead what more do you want 💀

My fathers funeral, cremation etc was $6000. Still a lot of money but you can choose to fit your budget.

We did a cremation for my father bc it it was way cheaper than having the body viewed at the funeral & buried. Prices are so ridiculous! 😭 But that’s why it’s important especially for grandparents/older individuals to make monthly payments so the family is not burdened with the cost.

when my husband was dying, I wonder if funeral home to get the arrangements in order. I said that I wanted people to donate to two charities rather than flowers. the funeral director got upset because he said that's bad for the florist. he tried to talk me into not saying that. But I stood firm.
