Gray area. You can't buy stolen merchandise but Addis would have an obligation to prove it was stolen, e.g. police reports, insurance claims, etc. or some other proof it the shoes were removed without authorization. Like Bob can buy a car from Sam and Sam leaves for parts unknown. Then Tom arrives saying "that's my car." Bob says "F-off I bought this." Tom leaves & returns with police the police report from weeks earlier, title, registration, etc. Bob loses car and money he gave Sam. So depends on Addis documentation. But Addis is more likely depending on high priced lawyers & intimidation.
