Literally stop allowing private insurance, which is a for profit situation. Make all hospitals nonprofit. There should be no shareholders for these organizations. It would not affect how docs and nurses are paid. And everyone is paying huge insurance premiums. And if they aren’t, their employer is covering some/most of it. Remove your monthly premium from your budget and pay a fraction of that into the group medical system. And also we need to tax massive corporations. Because right now they pay nothing, or next to nothing. And they need to be controlled as far as inflation and what they can charge for things compared to the ceo bonuses and shareholder payouts.

Bernie showed it 10 years ago where the average household would pay less than half for universal healthcare than they do for private insurance premiums alone.

If you combine the cost of premiums, co-pays and out of pocket costs, Universal health care would cost less than we're paying now.

It's almost like we already pay a ton and yhe government just spends it on everything but taking care of the citizens that live here.

have universal basic care…primary care/dental/vision/prescription…AND if you want more coverage then you can pay for it.

I used to work for a third-party administrator for a health insurance company, and I can tell you for a fact that is possible. Doesn’t Massachusetts have a single pair system already established?

Maggie May :
We can 100% afford it. We already pay more for healthcare than any other wealthy country, but it’s routed through premiums, deductibles, co-pays, employer costs, medical debt, and insurance company profit. The real question is why are we paying for the most expensive system that is the least efficient and calling that “fiscal responsibility?” Once we get money out of politics, we will start getting the type of services and supports that we pay for with our tax dollars.

It’s the richest country in the world only because a select few have a gross amount of money….and they pull the strings. So…..we’re cooked. 😢

We pay twice as much for health care as countries with universal health care. They have better outcomes. We have 68,000 people a year dying because they're uninsured or underinsured. We also have 680,000 people filing bankruptcy because of medical bills. They would rather pay twice as much as long as it continues to be called premiums, deductibles, and out of pocket rather than it being called a tax.

some countries raise taxes to pay for it, some countries you pay into it out of your paycheck. either way, it's doable. but the Republicans are convinced and have convinced their constituents that socialism is bad. they have convinced people that socialism is a precursor to communism. it's not.

The U.S. has ultra wealthy owners and the lower and middle class living longer, healthier is not on their agenda.
