@lalieschuett: The small café sat quietly on a corner street in Chiang Mai, it wasn't particularly famous, it wasn't trendy, it wasn't crowded, and that was exactly why Lena liked it. Every afternoon after work, Lena would enter the cafécarrying a book, the same routine, the same corner seat beside the window, the same order. A hot latte. No sugar.. No cream.. --- As an introvert, Lena loved places where nobody expected conversation, places where she could read peacefully, places where people left her alone. Unfortunately—This café had Miu. "Welcome back!" Lena had barely stepped inside before the cheerful voice reached her. Miu stood behind the counter. Bright smile, Messy ponytail, Apron slightly crooked as usual. Lena secretly thought she looked adorable. "The usual?" Miu asked. Lena nodded. "The usual." "One boring latte coming right up." Lena looked up from her book. "Boring?" Miu pointed dramatically. "Every single day." Then another point. "Same drink." And another. "Same seat." Lena blinked. Miu crossed her arms. "You're a routine criminal." The customer nearby laughed, Lena immediately looked back at her book, Trying and failing to hide her smile. Miu noticed. --- A few minutes later, Miu placed the latte on Lena's table. "Did you know?" Lena already knew what was coming. Every day Miu gave random coffee facts. Every. Single. Day. "No." Miu gasped. "You didn't even let me ask." Lena took a sip of her coffee, Miu ignored her. "Did you know coffee beans aren't actually beans?" Lena looked up. "They're seeds." A pause. "You're welcome." Then Miu walked away looking very proud of herself, Lena stared at her retreating figure. And smiled....Again. --- Weeks passed. Then months. The routine never changed, Lena came for coffee, Miu came with coffee facts. "Did you know Finland drinks the most coffee per person?" "Did you know espresso means 'pressed out'?" "Did you know coffee plants can live for over a hundred years?" Sometimes Lena wondered where Miu even found these facts...Other times she wondered why hearing them made her day better. The answer was simple, It wasn't the facts, It was Miu. The way she laughed, the way she remembered every customer's order, the way she treated strangers like old friends, the way she somehow filled every room with warmth. --- Lena found herself arriving earlier, staying longer, ordering an extra drink she didn't actually want. All because she liked hearing Miu talk. --- One rainy afternoon, the café was unusually quiet, only Lena remained inside, Reading....As always. Miu sat across from her during her break, For once neither spoke immediately, the rain tapped softly against the windows. Comfortable silence settled between them....then Miu rested her chin on her hand. "You know." "Hm?" "You became a regular." Lena smiled faintly. "I guess I did." Miu grinned. "I knew you'd get attached." Lena raised an eyebrow. "To the coffee?" Miu pointed at herself. "Obviously me." Lena almost choked on her drink, Miu immediately burst into laughter, the sound echoed through the nearly empty café. Warm.. Bright.. Impossible not to love. Lena shook her head. "You're ridiculous." "Yet you're still here." Lena opened her mouth....Then closed it. Because unfortunately Miu had a point, the café had good coffee, the atmosphere was peaceful, the books were enjoyable. But somewhere along the way...the best part of her afternoons had become the woman behind the counter, the woman who filled every silence, the woman who somehow made an introvert look forward to conversation. Miu smiled softly this time. A genuine one. Less teasing. More gentle. "I'm glad you keep coming back." Lena looked down at her coffee, trying to hide the warmth in her cheeks. Then quietly—"So am I." Outside, the rain continued to fall. Inside, Miu smiled. Lena smiled back. And neither of them noticed that their coffee had long since gone cold. -----🦋🧸----- ------- #lenamiu #gl #wlw #oneshotstory
