Gojo tries to heal through his students, but never quite manages to. he’s been doomed from birth — not only born into one of the most important clans, but also into the role of the strongest. a normal life was never really an option for him, let alone when he happens to be the first person in centuries to inherit both the Six Eyes and the Limitless technique. in a family who could totally afford to train him from a very young age, his fate was practically decided before he could make any choices of his own. this feels like toxins in his bloodstream Gojo tries to find someone as strong as him, someone he can share the burden of such responsibility with; maybe he wasn’t actively looking for this person, but he finds him in Geto. but then Suguru leaves, not only leaving him behind, but using Gojo’s greatest weakness against him: his role that’s when teaching and helping his students becomes, indirectly, a coping mechanism. not necessarily because he’s trying to find someone as strong as himself — you all know i’m not particularly fond of this interpretation, even if i don’t completely reject it — but because eventually he’s searching for people who can make him feel human. people who can, again, make all those responsibilities he was born with feel worth carrying. students he can guide, train, and, most importantly, protect from experiencing what he went through. people he can place his hope on to create a better world. i think it’s fair to say that Gojo tries to heal through his students — not only from the burden of his role, but also from the wound Geto left behind. the problem is that no matter how hard he tries, for him, they never quite move at his pace. he never truly opens up. he never fully bonds with them the way he should. he never truly moves on after Geto leaves him. and especially, he never manages to escape the role he was born into. i often say that he self-sabotages himself and i think this could be part of it as well. that’s why his students could never be the cure. i included the dialogue between him and Yuta because i think it captures this idea perfectly: even after all those years spent teaching, even while being constantly surrounded by his students, there’s still a part of him that feels like he’s trying to catch up to Geto, that he will have to be the monster on his own (which of course is *also* given by the fact that he wants to protect them). and, eventually, we all know what becomes his cure (“i hope this isn’t just a dream.”) [of course this is just one of the many ways to look at the whole dynamic between him and his students] anyway the points of view could totally be reversed with this song (Gojo’s help will never be the cure to the students, which have toxins in their bloodstreams — at least, most of them) sorry for ghosting y’all. might happen again, but i’m glad to be back for now :’) #satorugojo #gojo #jujutsukaisen #jjk #edit
