The Zhuang language also uses a writing system called Sawndip!!! I'm so fascinated by it because theres Chinese characters that you don't normally see in China but are normal in Zhuang, similar to Vietnamese's Chu Nom. Basically, they do something similar with phono-semantic compounds, where the phonetic is something similar to how Chinese would pronounce it (except the pronunciation is from Kra-Dai). E.g. 佲 = mwngz = you, where 亻 is person and 名 is the phonetic since ming ≈ mwngz

I was in a village in Guangxi a nit mote than a month ago. They where Zhuang and said they spoke a village language (also a bit mix of mandarin in it to), that they couldn’t really write. It also differs from village to village and not everyone wears. I also saw the strict boarders when I was close to Vietnam, so my passport got checked. My Zhuang friend said that he thought it’s no longer Zhuang or Han (not my words his). It’s also hard to understand the mandarin dislect there (even for my northern Chinese friend). There are not any forigners there. I was the first European to ever been in the village I was invited to. I would recommend people visiting Guangxi since it’s much cheaper and there is a lot of thing that the rest of the world hasn’t seen online about the region except from Guiling. In China it’s a huge difference between city and rural life. Both are great! ❤️🤍🩵
