@nimcobarako: To misuse the Qur'an and our beautiful religion to blame a victim is beyond me. Islam is beautiful. Islam is just. Islam does not excuse wrongdoing or shift responsibility from the guilty to the innocent. For far too long, some men have used religion as a tool to manipulate women, silence women, control women and blame women for the actions of men. But that is becoming harder to do because women are asking questions, reading for themselves and refusing to accept every claim made in the name of Islam. The truth is coming to light. More women can now see the difference between Islam and those who misuse it for their own agenda. Not everyone who speaks about religion is a scholar. Not everyone with a platform has knowledge. We should be careful about who we listen to and who we take our religion from. A girl was sexually assaulted and instead of condemning the men who harmed her, some people chose to blame her.
