Ok I figured it out if you focus on the top it spins clockwise and if you focus on the bottom and cover up the top with your hand you get to see it rotate counterclockwise

Focus on the top (pointy end) of the pyramid for counter-clockwise, focus on the base (square end) of the pyramid for clockwise.
