It’s heartbreaking to see the death of Alex Coughlan, and a life lost should never be reduced to a debate about race alone. If the people responsible are of any background, the focus should be on the actions, the victims, and the wider issues in society. A bigger conversation needs to happen about youth crime in Ireland and whether the current approach is enough to prevent repeat offending. When serious crimes are committed by teenagers, there is often a debate about their age and their future, but we also need to think about the future of victims, families, and communities affected by these crimes. The idea that someone is young does matter in terms of rehabilitation, but accountability matters too. Consequences and support need to be strong enough to prevent young offenders from continuing down the same path. A justice system should protect society, support rehabilitation where possible, and make sure victims are not forgotten.

Unfortunately it’s the world we live in, the murder of yves Sakila was labelled a race murder because 2 of the security men where white, the community of Blanchardstown organised a silent vigil and the family asked that no politicians turn up, it had nothing to do with the far right, now look at the vigil that was held for yves Sakila and you had Irish politicians inciting hate and racism towards the Irish people, then you had a witch doctor performing a ceremony outside’s Arnotts saying anyone who crosses this door they will die🤷🏻♀️
