Yes copper can help with algae (yellow/mustard) but the copper doesn’t produce chlorine in the pool… Nor does it keep ph and and Alkalinity in range as they should be. i say don’t rely on a couple copper 45s but not my pool

We bought a solar copper ionizer for our pool 3 years ago. I sanitize it once a week for $6 a pack and that’s all the money I spend I keep my pool crystal clear
