For me I went on a deep dive and instead of thinking "is it a video" means replaying memories I thought about how in the movie the song was used in with Elio and Oliver and their situationship as well and how "is it a video" is a reference to how Elio is left questioning if everything was real or if it was just a video as in was it all even real? Did it actually happen? The situation in itself makes it seem that for a love so passionate, for it to end just so abruptly and turn into nothing makes it feel unreal so when you replay the memories it really does feel unbelievable and surreal as if it never even happened hence why he repeats "is it a video" because he himself is trying to figure out if it was all real because the reality seems so far away due to the disbelief he is facing. So when you say "is it a video" you yourself aren't only replaying memories but trying to figure out if it even happened at all (even though you know it did) because everything from that relationship seems so far away now and since it was never officialized then was it real at all?

"is it a video" is exactly the moment you get them off the pedestal you placed them in the first place. The moment you get exhausted of fighting. And you're seeing them exactly for who they really are. No rose colored lenses. And that leaves you hanging, questioning every second of what happened between you too. But it was all real. And it was never in your head. It's just that love on its own is not enough. Love also needs consistency. Effort. Reassurance. Willigness. Reparation. Not leaving when things get hard.
