If a GP declines any tests or any adjustment to your medication email them and ask that you want it stated in your records that they denied tests/ medication/ adjustments. They will backtrack sharpish because they won’t want that in writing.

my hormones were indeed off a bit but because of my age she said yeah I'm not gonna recommend you anything.

my doctors will not even acknowledge I'm going through perimenopause and the 2 doctors I've seen are female

I’m in the same situation. Dismissed constantly! Told to go on the mirena coil and take antidepressants. I pushed for a blood test, fed the results into AI and it told me my progesterone is non existent. About to see a private doctor too. But am thinking I should also complain to my GP. The NHS say they are investing in better healthcare for women, but when will that be?!

GP is general practitioner, most of them have no specialism in menopause, thankfully mine did and she’s fantastic, don’t take nothing is wrong with you for an answer 🥰

this is part of the reason why I've not gone down the hrt route. Mentally and emotionally, I can't take the endless rigmarole. Going to try menopause clinic.

Where did you get the patches? Do you need a prescription from GP?

Mine was really good, wasn’t the doctor but the nurse practitioner. I was on the gel and progesterone capsules but at my review I asked to try the all in one tablet. 3 months on I couldn’t cope, soooo anxious, night sweats back, phoned them and got switched back no problems. 🥰

This 100% My GP, who is supposed to be the female health specialist at the practice, actually told me I should go privately if I could afford it because I had gone beyond her expertise and what she was able to do under NHS guidance.

Sounds like what I’m going through, I’ve been on the patch and prog pills, I don’t feel much difference and they won’t see me until I’ve been on this regime for 3 mths 🙄

The patches are rubbish I turned to the gel the issue is they keep changing the patch manufactures here in Ireland …. I think people have to be ready to change ways to receive HRT and not be fixed on the same method everytime …

Very similar story here. I went to a private doctor and immediately got a prescription change and felt a million times better. Top tip: took the private prescription to my NHS GP so I can get the new prescription via the NHS.
