Rin was the main cause of the rift in the Itoshi brothers’ relationship . People love to coddle Rin and say he didn’t do anything wrong which isn’t correct . Rin instigated the situation completely, and I promise you if he hadn’t reacted so negatively, Sae would’ve never gave him attitude back . The manga and anime both emphasize Sae’s exhausted, stressed demeanor and appearance and it’s so obvious that something was wrong . Yet Rin lashes out at Sae anyway and accuses him of straight bs for a dream they had when they were little kids ? Rin, as a 14/15 year old should know that, once people properly experience the world, their viewpoints, beliefs, personalities, and dreams change . Sae clearly wasn’t an exception, and was in a very fragile state of mind upon returning to Japan . Rin still disregards Sae’s feelings entirely though . Sae was valid for snapping back in that scene . I’m not excusing Sae’s treatment of Rin as they grew up, however Rin played a huge part in the deterioration of their bond, and seeing diehard Rin fans negate that fact all the time and only casting the blame on Sae is so annoying . Both brothers were horrible to one another .
