We woke up from the crash of an old heavy mirror falling on the floor at 3AM. I remember it felt like the sound of the crash was going on forever and my fuzzy mind went through all possible scenarios - thunder, bombs (?!) someone is tearing down the house (like what?). And then my mind settled on burglars (also, what??) so I yelled ”THERES SOMEONE IN HERE”. Guess who didn’t sleep for the rest of the night? Our then 10 year old. Why? Because his not so smart stepmom (me!) had said confidently that someone was in the house 🤷♀️

Our cO2 alarm died when I went out shopping for Christmas. He called me, told me what was going on, took the kids outside and called the non emergency fire department number. I picked up a new one on the way home🤷♀️he was pretty calm and collected. We communicated and the kids weren’t traumatized. I call that a win!
