When people are saying that she shouldn't be shipped with anyone and it makes them 'uncomfortable' is automatically telling that they do not see her as someone out of her trauma, as if victims aren't capable of pursuing a romantic relationship despite the effort they put into getting better (which is what amo literally does in the manga)

THIS. I even use this defense for people who dislike or even HATE Amo. I hate people who think people are weird for not liking her after hearing her back story — HER BACKSTORY DOESN’T DEFINE WHO SHE IS. She has her own character, her own traits, her own personality, her own preferences, her own LIFE to her. Why do people treat Amo like her backstory is a redeeming quality of hers?

i rlly hate when ppl see a traumatized and/or complex character that has faced abused and never received proper attention or love and immediately go like “shipping them is wrong!!! their character is more than that!! i dont think they can love or commit to a relationship!!!” like bro u SAYING THAT is exactly what’s ruining the character, it feels very dehumanizing to say that abt them, now im not saying this to be against aroace rep bc i can understand if u wanna see a character as aroace but if ur only argument is their backstory then that’s just harsh and dehumanizing

The only reason why people don’t want to ship amo and rudo is because they see her as a victim and shouldn’t be loved because it would “traumatize” her or something like that. Maybe she isn’t ready for a relationship but people hate the hypothetical of Rudo x Amo, it’s crazy.
