Ezra Klein is a wonderful example of this colonized version of Buddhism

Buddhism was intentionally designed to be inclusive to all people, regardless of their social standing, wealth, gender, or race.

theres Saddha,Sila, samadhi, pragnya, andin order to be enlightened you need to cultivate all. You can't leave out one like Saddha. Being too individualistic means you are missing Saddha and the root of it could be less Pragnya. Like with great power comes great responsibility , you have to fulfill your responsibilities to the others by helping them on the path. This is also Karuna.

Japan also has commercialized matcha, they’ve also got commercialized “ceremonial matcha” this is not an accurate and materialistic assessment of matcha.

even past this macha example, one of the key element of budhism is taking refuge in the sangha, the community of budhists; it is so since its beginning:)

I spent a few days at a Vietnamese Buddhist temple (Tich Nat Hahn) that was in my area. It was one of the most beautiful experiences. The mindfulness of eating, everything. I’ve taken that experience with me my whole life.

Haha my friend, just keep doing whatever makes you happy. Don't just listen to one person, and don't believe someone just because they're an expert. Try it out yourself. If it works, keep doing it. If it doesn't, just stop.

Thich Nhat Hanh's version of Buddhism is not so individualistic. It's more about interdependence and social engagement and Sangha. He passed away a few years ago, but his tradition and his center in France still has many followers and teachers. On YouTube you can find many of his lectures.

yes but reducing stress/anxiety for yourself makes you a better person for the people around you as well, it's just that our perspective is more individualistic, but the end result is the same

I got to sit in a zen garden in a gorgeous temple in Kyoto. It was so incredible and I sat and appreciated the moment. A very good moment

When I attended a Japanese tea service back in 1985… it left a lasting impression on my life… to this day. I didn’t like the tea back then and I still don’t like it, but I remember being a part of that process with reverence and gratitude
