Fatigue exists more than just in the gym. - Food isn’t a stimulus, but food is fuel. Resistance training is required. Carbs are the body’s preferred energy source. So if you eat enough carbs and manage your lifestyle regardless of the deficit, maintenance, or surplus… you won’t find a difference in muscle growth. - Protein can be 0.8g/lb and fats can just fill in once you find a carb spot that works for you. - They want you to think the surplus is the reason.. whole time it’s managing your lifestyle and putting the basic time in at the gym.
Ok he has a good point. People do surpluses because they could get more energy when working out in the gym and adds just a little more to muscle gains due to the calories.

I feel like this is kind of disingenuous to the point. Eating in a surplus through slop is obviously not going to help you. However if you are eating clean in a minor surplus it allows you to fit in more carbohydrates in your diet to support training intensity and recovery, additionally it allows more fats in your diet to support hormonal health. Both of which will help you build more muscle.
