The comments have moved me in ways I didn't see coming. The stories. How not alone any of us actually are. The bravery that exists in the tiny, ordinary, every day. But what’s stuck out to me most is this isn’t just about moving and missing a place. This is a collective grief. It’s not just immigrants or folks grieving what they’ve left behind. It’s people leaving a version of themselves or their lives and grieving that. A dream they had to put down. A life that went a different way than they planned. It comes from all types of humans and stories and scenarios. We all seem to be grieving. And on the flip side, we are all feeling the newness, the rawness, the unknown, the excitement, joy, and elation of what comes next, existing in the exact same breath as the ache of what was.. And I think it is so damn beautiful. The complexity of life. The full spectrum of human experience. Held all at once. Hundreds of you said a version of this, out loud, in a comment section on the internet, which honestly takes more courage than most people realize. So thank you. Humans and Canadians alike. For sharing in your vulnerability with me and your bravery for existing and showing up openly in a world that doesn't always make that easy.
