So essentially, the data centers are technically for surveillance

little fun fact, the data centers are not for AI, never have been, there were a bunch of ceos that said Ai wasn't even profitable for them after last year.

It’s cool… but can this run a 70 billion model? I’m guessing not or if it can, the response time is probably 60 - 120 seconds. I do love the direction we are moving in and I don’t think most AI companies survive (nor do I want them to). The service model ultimately means we are pay $100 a month when we could just buy the tech a pay $2 more for electricity.

“There’s a guy who developed a super small super computer” Nvidia corp, USA, 4 triilion dollar market cap, 36,000 employees. (What a guy)

can't buy the ram for the normal weights of those llms, which means this box almost certainly runs the nano/portable weights (hence the nano name for the box). you can already run those on phones and laptops, they suck and are in no way a replacement for subscriptions to the big providers

I’ve been saying Data centers are not the future. We just need to make open source models better and we won’t need to get those stupid fees for intelligence. Apple better pick up space

Yeah this isn't making data centers obsolete the least bit...

for most of the thing people do with Ai, this is enough. we need something that directs to a model, either local or remote, depending on what you're doing.

8gb, not big enough to be interesting for virtually anything you might want to do. For a specialty device with very limited, fixed, minimal intelligence, sure, but that’s about it.

What does a person need this in their home for? AI is just an app on my phone that I ask crazy questions to, why do I need my own little device?

lol, no. So yes, you can run some basic stuff locally on that box. But that doesn't replace what you would need Datacenter scale AI for. I'm running 32G of VRAM locally for as much as I can yet I still use the frontier models for the things I can't do locally.
