I kept my new cat in a room with me for about one or 2 weeks and let them play with each other through the bottom of the door when I finally opened the door and let them see each other, they were perfectly fine.

First day my cat hissed at the kitten and I didn’t let them see eachother the rest of the day the next day I just let the kitten roam the house and my cat followed him around all day and on the 3rd day they became best friends

I have three cats. The first time I followed the advice. The second and third time I just placed them all together. Some scuffled, but now all three tolerate each other. They cuddle and tolerate each other. Just my experience, and in no way am I an expert trainer.
