@therapistmomunfiltered: Is your teen spending more and more time alone in their room? While independence is a normal part of adolescence, excessive isolation can sometimes be a sign of emotional disconnection. Many teens retreat when they anticipate criticism, lectures, conflict, or feeling misunderstood. The goal isn't to force them out of their room. The goal is to become a relationship they want to come back to. Connection is built through small moments of emotional safety, curiosity, and presence. If your teen feels distant lately, you're not alone—and it's not too late to reconnect. My Teen Connection Blueprint walks parents through exactly how to rebuild trust, improve communication, and strengthen connection during the teen years. You'll find it in my bio. #ParentingTeens #TeenConnection #TeenBehavior #AuthoritativeParenting #TeenMentalHealth

It's scary how I've never seen my teenagers happier. After reading Mom, I'm Not Like You by Evelia Hayes, my whole approach to parenting changed. Wouldn't recommend it though, because now I have no free time. They always want to spend time with me 😂

They don’t do chores unless they’re told so they get told pretty constantly and they try to stay in their room to avoid being told to do the chores

What does it mean if they are chronically in my room and won’t let me have a single alone time? 😅

True, but what if they don't leave the room, play games 12hrs or more a day. Only come out to get food and or bathroom.

I don’t know… my kids stay in their rooms but they also wrestle when I’m cooking, try to talk to me when I’m peeing, stalk me on life 360, call me multiple times a day when im at work, etc etc but they basically root in their room

They are in their room because it’s their space. When my daughter comes out we say hello, how are you. She will still say this is why I don’t come out of my room. They just like their own space. There is never any agenda or negative or pressure.

My 16 year old stays in her room a lot. I have asked her why does she stay in her room instead of hanging out. She told me her siblings are loud and over stimulate her and it’s quiet in her room. Saying that this is a sign that a teen is disconnected i feel doesn’t apply to every teen.

What if they don’t do anything they are supposed to do and the only time you have to tell them what needs to be done is when they come out for 30 seconds?

My teen is basically a free range chicken and just wanders around the house eating snacks, throwing himself on my bed, and asking me to buy him jean shorts and taking my car for snacks 😂
